Hello! I'm Greig (he/him/his), and I'm excited to be working at Lang as an English Language Arts teacher in the upper school. Raised in South Louisiana—the rhythm of the Mardi Gras mambo runs through my veins. After graduating from the New School for Social Research, I decided to make New York City my home. Throughout the years, I've held various teaching positions in independent schools and libraries, from New Orleans to Harlem, and most recently in Jackson Heights, Queens, at the Garden School, where I taught English. At Lang, I aim to create thematic courses on topics such as Identity and Transformation and Philosophy in Literature that encourage adolescents to blend their experiences with a wide range of literary texts, artifacts, academic discourse, and connections between the world, themselves, and other texts. I am deeply interested in New York City as a living, breathing text, a city that never sleeps and always has a story to tell. I enjoy exploring various places via public transit, uncovering the hidden narratives that make this city so unique. City life fuels my creativity and inspires me when I'm not teaching or spending time with friends and family. Feel free to contact me regarding young adult literature, quirky philosophical ideas, diverse forms of representation, writing techniques, and my approach to teaching twice-exceptional learners.
