I am delighted to be entering my third year as a member of The Lang School community. As a literacy specialist, English educator, and educational researcher, I feel lucky each day to be a part of a school family where my passions, interests and expertise are sparked by the brilliant and unique talents of my students and colleagues. For the last seventeen years, as an educator, I've worked in a diverse range of school settings, serving as a literacy coordinator, middle and high school English language arts teacher, and head of school. This year, I completed my dissertation and doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania where I examined the counter-narratives of neuro-diverse youth living and learning in New York City during the 2019-2022 school years, in order to critically examine their experiences and understandings with the aim to center their voices in the discourse on transforming education in the “new normal.” I continue to examine these themes in my scholarship and writing, including a chapter in the book Flux Leadership: Real-Time Inquiry for Humanizing Educational Change, and an article in the Penn GSE Perspectives on Urban Education, (Fall 2020) Volume 18, Issue 1 Journal; “Listening Leadership: The Student Voices Project."
