French III
At this level, the students will understand the key points of an everyday conversation, or a radio or television broadcast.
In class, they will work on expressing themselves on personal subjects and on taking part in a conversation on subjects that they are familiar with. They could, for example, talk about a film that they have seen and explain or justify their opinion of the film. In reaching this level, they will be able to handle most situations that someone would typically encounter while travelling in a francophone country.
French IV
The objective of this course is to be able to communicate in more complex situations.
It includes a review and extension of the main syntactic structures and grammatical forms. The students will learn to express their opinions and feelings with greater ease and precision. They will also improve their socio-linguistic competence, and will become familiar with the different registers of language.
While the communicative approach will be the primary emphasis, the students will also focus on the cultural aspect of the language.
