As the Assistant Head of School at Lang School, I am committed to creating an educational environment that empowers twice-exceptional (2e) students to thrive. With a background that includes a BA in Psychology and Women’s Studies from SUNY New Paltz, an MS in Education with a focus on Special Education from CUNY City College, and leadership certifications from Baruch College and Bank Street College of Education, I bring a deep understanding of the unique needs and potential of 2e learners.
In my role, I engage with classrooms across the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools to identify our successes and areas for growth, ensuring that every 2e student receives the support they need to excel. I work closely with divisional directors to provide insights and tailored assistance that address the distinct areas of need through a strengths-based approach for our 2e students. A key focus of my work is overseeing the integration of Project-Based Learning (PBL) across all divisions, ensuring that our instructional practices are both innovative and aligned with Lang’s mission to nurture the whole child.
Parent engagement is the cornerstone of my approach, as I believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for the success of all students. I develop and implement strategies to enhance parent involvement, proactively addressing concerns and facilitating open communication. Additionally, I conduct classroom observations to support teachers in refining their instructional strategies, ensuring they are equipped to meet the diverse needs of 2e learners. My role also includes mentoring divisional directors, guiding them in the implementation of school-wide initiatives and policies that foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for our students.
By focusing on innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement, I strive to create a school culture where 2e students are empowered to reach their full potential. My goal is to ensure that The Lang School remains a place where high expectations and academic excellence are the norm, and where every 2e student is prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.
