Physical Education Teacher & Occupational Therapist

BOSTON UNIVERSITY SARGENT COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATION SCIENCES - DOCTORATE IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY (OTD)

Growing up as a neurodivergent person, gym class was always confusing for me. The rules didn’t make sense, everyone moved too fast, and I often found myself stepping on other people’s toes (both literally and figuratively). Instead of feeling confident, I was mostly reminded of the things I couldn’t do. That’s why I’m excited to create a different kind of physical education experience, one where students feel empowered in their bodies and motivated to move in ways that make them feel strong! Drawing on my occupational therapy expertise, I look forward to making physical education a space where movement not only builds skills, but also promotes regulation and organization.

Before coming to The Lang School, I have worked as an occupational therapist in both the school system and in outpatient settings in North Jersey. I completed my doctorate in occupational therapy at Boston University, where I wrote my thesis on health education for LGBTQIA+ autistic individuals. I am passionate about providing neuro affirming, strengths based, and holistic care. In my work as an occupational therapist, I focus on building off of students' intrinsic motivation and interests to develop skills that promote meaningful participation across all contexts. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my dog (Zoey), hiking, bouldering, crafting, and doing puzzles/playing games.
