  • Sophie Rose Anger

< Back Sophie Rose Anger Librarian & Creative Writing Teacher GOUCHER COLLEGE -BA QUEENS COLLEGE CUNY - MS IN MLIS (IN PROCESS) I am really excited to serve as Lang's as School Librarian and Creative Writing Teacher. After studying Education and English in undergrad, directing a creative literature after-school program, and teaching 6th grade ELA for three years, I decided that what I ultimately want to be is a school librarian. I love curating engaging libraries, fostering a love of reading among the youth, assisting with research skills, and supporting teachers and students with all sorts of learning resources. I am currently studying library science in grad school, focusing on a “School Media Specialist” track, so I feel very lucky to be able to presently apply what I’m learning to my work at Lang. I do love to read and journal myself, but I can also be found making music, biking to any and every destination, and simply hanging out with friends and family in Brooklyn. sophie.anger@thelangschool.org

  • Ellen Simon

< Back Ellen Simon Lower School Learning Specialist HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY - BA ELEMENTARY EDUCATION/PSYCHOLOGY TEACHERS COLLEGE, COLUMBIA UNIV - MA REMEDIAL READING I am so excited to be the Lang School Literacy Specialist (Elementary/ Middle School). Teaching reading has always been my passion, and I look forward to supporting our students in their educational journeys. Before working at Lang, I spent 28 years at the Stephen Gaynor School, initially in the classroom before becoming a reading specialist, which emerged as my true calling. Seeing the benefits of the Orton-Gillingham approach and watching struggling students develop into confident, independent readers always brings a smile to my face. I'm also the mom of a daughter who experienced school challenges, so I come to this position with varying perspectives. During my spare time, you will find me in Central Park, the Gym, chilling with my dog, or enjoying time with friends. ellen.simon@thelangschool.org

  • David Siever

< Back David Siever Fine Arts Teacher SUNY PURCHASE - BA MARYLAND INSTITUTE COLLEGE OF ART - POST-BAC DEGREE IN ART BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY - POST-BAC DEGREE IN ART THE SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO - MA IN FINE ARTS BROOKLYN COLLEGE - POST-GRADUATE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION I am excited to serve as the Fine Arts teacher here at Lang. I am a Brooklyn-based artist with a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramic Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have lectured on art and history both nationally and internationally. A recent personal highlight was serving as the Visiting Artist at the Australian National University where I taught and worked on a series of sculptures about the Australian and Aboriginal experience in the First World War utilizing archives at the Australian War Memorial. I do narrative ceramics; combining my interests in history and art to make sculptures inspired by historical events and even more so by the people that history has forgotten. These "footnotes" of history focus on the forgotten protagonists and the disasters which reveal the costs of human desires, ambition, and folly. By creating sculptures, I hope to bring these lost figures to life, to have them step out of the photographs, diaries and letters that form the only record of their existence and to let them reemerge in three dimensions. My work is in the permanent collection of the Kinsey Institute and many other private collections. david.siever@thelangschool.org

  • Tucker Anglemyer

< Back Tucker Anglemyer Executive Functioning Coach / Upper School Student Support NEW ENGLAND COLEGE - BA, PSYCHOLOGY I am beyond excited to join the Lang community as the Executive Functioning Coach! I was born and raised in Kunkletown, PA, then spent four years in New Hampshire, and am now venturing out to NYC. Before joining Lang, I gained a little over a year of experience working in therapeutic and special education settings in both New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. During my time at New England College, in collaboration with five peers, I created a student success program aimed at enhancing students’ organization, time management, task initiation, and decision making skills. I learned quickly that this was an important skill I enjoyed sharing with others. In and out of the classroom, I've always been dedicated to building positive relationships and inspiring others. When I am not in the classroom, I’m probably out in nature reading, rock climbing, or playing card games with friends. As I begin my journey at Lang (along with many students’ and their families!), what I look forward to most is seeing our twice-exceptional learners doing the right thing, learning to become self-advocates, and finding joy in their educational experiences. tucker.anglemyer@thelangschool.org
